Mrs. Savey Tufenkian, an Armenian-American Philanthropist, long-time ArmeniaFund benefactor & fervent proponent of Childrens’ Primary Education Institutions, passed away on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021.


Los Angeles, August 27, 2021 – Armenia Fund US’ Message On the Passing of Mrs. Savey Tufenkian.

ArmeniaFund U.S. would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Mr. Ralph Tufenkian and the greater Tufenkian family.

Today, our community learned of the unfortunate passing of a long-time benefactor and passionate supporter of ArmeniaFund, Mrs. Savey Tufenkian.

A recipient of the distinguished Ellis Island Medal of Honor, an award recognizing U.S. citizens who represent the essence of American life while

also having preserved their heritage, was heralded as “a successful businesswoman, a pillar of the Armenian community and the benefactor of schools and organizations” (LATimes.com) across the world.

As generous patrons of ArmeniaFund, Mrs. Savey and Mr. Ralph Tufenkian’s impact on our world has, quite literally, paved the way for hundreds of thousands living in Armenia and Artsakh. The Tufenkian’s endowments resonate across nearly all of ArmeniaFund’s almost 30 years of achievements comprising of over “300 miles of roads, 175 miles of water supply networks, 230 schools and kindergartens, 40 hospitals & health care centers, as well as countless humanitarian, educational, cultural and scientific projects.”
