ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2020

  • $80,000,000+ was raised in support of Armenia and Artsakh.

Telethon 2020 focused on supporting 100,000 refugees and displaced individuals and the families of our fallen soldiers who lost their lives to protect the sovereignty of both republics. In the first month of the #ArtsakhStrong campaign, Armenia Fund in the United States raised nearly $80 million from the community to help those displaced by the recent violence, most of whom were forced from their homes empty-handed right at the beginning of the winter season. The fund has provided temporary shelter, transitional housing, transport, food and medical care for those in need of help with every single dollar received allocated exclusively for humanitarian purposes.

ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2019

Armenia Fund USA believes that strong communities make for a strong Homeland. With your generous support this year, The 2019 Telethon made it possible for us to bring drinking water to villages that remain deprived of this most crucial resource. You will also enable us to make thousands of acres of land available for agriculture, by bringing irrigation water to hard-working farmers. As importantly, you will enable us to help Armenia and Artsakh become energy-independent, by expanding our solar-power projects throughout both republics.

ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2018

For the past 26 years and thanks to your generous support, the Armenia Fund has benefitted tens of thousands of our compatriots in Armenia and in Artsakh.

Together, we have built roads, provided children with education and care, given drinking and irrigation water to villagers, secured dignified retirement for senior citizens, provided free medical care to patients of all ages, assisted those with disabilities, and secured permanent housing for vulnerable families in the Gyumri earthquake zone and beyond. Our sacred mission – to strengthen Independent Armenian Statehood by helping Armenia develop and thrive – has not changed through all these years.

ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2016

In April the people of Artsakh faced an unprecedented full-scale military aggression by Azerbaijan’s armed forces. Indiscriminate artillery shelling brought large scale destruction to homes and schools in Talish, Mataghis, Martakert and other towns and villages in Artsakh. Brutality of the April attack could only be matched by the horrors that our ancestors experienced during the darkest days of the Genocide: We all remember the chilling images of mutilated bodies of our soldiers and the elderly civilians that fell victim to the raids of the bloodthirsty Azerbaijani commandos. This telethon will help the people of Artsakh with absolute necessities of the post April War reality – from bomb shelters, first aid medicines, emergency/trauma kits in hospitals and homes to tents, warm blankets, non-perishable food items, water purification systems, portable kitchens and enhanced civil defense training in all schools.

Proceeds from the Telethon will benefit the the construction of single family homes for families in Nagorno Karabakh who have 5 children or more and lack adequate housing, living in overcrowded homes. There are 466 families in Karabakh who have more than 5 children and 211 of them lack adequate housing. The homes, that Armenia Fund is going to build with the funds raised during the Telethon, will have land plots of 10,000 sq ft each, where the families can grow fruits and vegetables. Armenia Fund will provide furniture for every room in the house as well as provide household appliances, including water heaters, refrigerators, washers, stoves and vacuum cleaners.

The 2015 target is the ground-breaking project to construct fully furnished single family homes for families in Artsakh who have 5 children or more and lack adequate housing. There are already 466 families identified in Artsakh who fit the criteria and 211 are known to live in unacceptable housing conditions. International medical research shows that overcrowding and poor living conditions result in slow growth in children and severely increases the risk of disease including meningitis, tuberculosis, asthma and heart problems.

The homes that Armenia Fund constructs for these families will have land plots of 10,000 sq. ft. each, where the families can grow fruits and vegetables. Armenia Fund will provide furniture for every room in the house as well as provide household appliances, including water heaters, refrigerators, washers, stoves and vacuum cleaners. According to the program, priority will be given to low income families, families of veterans of the Artsakh Liberation War as well as to the survivors of soldiers who lost their lives defending Artsakh.

ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2014

Murderous Azerbaijiani commandoes once again attacked our historic homeland this August. The entire population of Artsakh – men, women, children and the elderly – were under threat of renewed war. Hundreds of husbands, fathers and sons fought bravely for the freedom of their nation, families, neighbors and friends. Seventeen paid the ultimate price and died.

It is NOW that we must join together so these courageous men’s sacrifice of their lives and futures will not have been in vain!

Thanks to your generous support of Armenia Fund, infrastructure has been built in the form of roads, medical centers, schools, kindergartens and water projects in order to stabilize and strengthen Artsakh. Because of these projects, residents stay in their ancestral villages, develop their land, and provide for their families.

Thanks to dedicated friends like you, Armenia Fund provides jobs for local workers. This year alone, 350 new jobs were created by Armenia Fund while building the strategically important Vardenis-Martakert Highway. We employed people from the villages along the Highway providing them with an honest pay for an honest day’s work.

This year’s focus was the Vardenis-Martakert Highway, strategically linking Artsakh to Armenia from the North has a critical importance for both countries. It is the missing link to fully integrate Armenia’s and Artsakh’s highway systems and connect Artsakh to Armenia’s and subsequently, Europe’s railway system. The economic development spurred by the highway has the potential to double Artsakh’s GDP by 2020. The highway seriously stimulates creation of jobs in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and trade.

ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2012

  • $250,000,000 was raised in support of the homeland.

Armenians around the world are celebrating Armenia Fund’s 20th Anniversary. The organization was established in 1992 when Armenia, having just gained its independence was faced with the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake: 50,000 dead, 130,000 injured and 500,000 homeless. In 1989, the official cost of reconstruction was estimated at 15 billion rubles — $50 billion in today’s dollars. Soviet empire just collapsed, burying with it what was left of an economy and impoverishing nearly every citizen of Armenia. Inflation hit 2,520% in 1992 alone. The Artsakh Liberation War entered its darkest days: Azeri tanks came within 20 miles of Stepanakert, which has turned into a ghost town. Our brothers and sisters were forced to live in basements under daily artillery shelling and air raids by Azeri bombers.

  • $250,000,000 was raised in support of the homeland.

These tremendous results became possible by pulling together the resources of nearly 100,000 Armenian families residing in 30 countries around the globe from the United States to Argentina, France to Russia, and Lebanon to Australia, and participate annually in Armenia Fund’s Telethon. The words of Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents come to my mind: “Oh, Armenian people, your only salvation is in your own united strength”.

As you might already know, this year the International Board of Trustees of Armenia Fund decided to continue the Water Project for the year 2011 as well. The goal is to raise enough funds during the upcoming ARMENIA FUND TELETHON 2011 to bring water to the 34,000 residents of Artsakh who still do not have it today. This is a very realistic goal that is within our reach.

  • $250,000,000 was raised in support of the homeland.

Today, as never before, we call on you to help us collectively address another issue critically important to the well being of our nation – the rebuilding of Shushi. Besides being the cradle of Armenian culture and arts, Shushi is a town that symbolizes the turning point in our modern history. After centuries of losing lands and crumbling under the yoke of oppressive nations, on May 9, 1992 we had a victory which lifted the spirit of an entire Armenian nation and inspired our soldiers to win truly heroic battles, thanks to which today we have a free Artsakh.

Create a better Armenia, together.
