Glendale, California – October 10, 2020 – On October 8th, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, Ambassador Armen Baibourtian, in association with the Pan-Armenian Council of Western USA (PAC-WUSA) held a joint emergency fundraising event at the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles to provide urgent humanitarian relief to the victims of the brutal Turkish-Azeri assault on the civilian population of Artsakh.

The joint event was attended by a large group of Armenian philanthropists and community leaders who collectively contributed a generous sum of $3,239,500 million to Armenia Fund, the designated organization for the collection, management and transfer of funds to Artsakh through Hayastan All-Armenian Fund in Yerevan, Armenia. A sum of $2,482,273 was immediately transferred to Armenia Fund with the balance to be transferred shortly. The funds will provide life-saving services and supplies including medical and surgical assistance, housing, food, heating apparatus, construction of temporary shelters and transfer of children and the vulnerable populations to safe locations.

Armenia Fund Chairperson, Maria Mehranian said “Every minute, the people of Artsakh are making enormous sacrifices and courageously protecting their families and their homes from one of the most inhumane assaults on civilians in recent memory. It is our obligation to do our part to aid our compatriots in this hour of need.”

Over the past 12 days, Armenians all over the globe have demonstrated an unprecedented collective will to bring public attention to the atrocities and injustices committed by the Turkish-Azeri tandem and their hired jihadist mercenaries. As of today, over $80 million has been raised through Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and Armenia Fund Inc., to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Artsakh. “With the help of Armenian organizations in our region, Armenia Fund leadership and volunteers stand ready to fulfill this enormous responsibility entrusted to us to provide the much needed help to our people”, said Mehranian.

Fundraising continues at the Armenia Fund online portal, www.armeniafund.org/donate and at the Armenia Fund office in Glendale. Donations are also accepted by phone at 1-800-888-8897.
