Vardenis-Martakert Highway Information

Vardenis-Martakert Highway, strategically linking Artsakh to Armenia from the North has a critical importance for both countries. It is the missing link to fully integrate Armenia’s and Artsakh’s highway systems and connect Artsakh to Armenia’s and subsequently, Europe’s railway system. The economic development spurred by the highway has the potential to double Artsakh’s GDP by 2020. The highway seriously stimulates creation of jobs in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and trade.

Serving Together For All Armenians

Dear Supporter of Armenia Fund:

I am writing to you today not as the President of Armenia Fund, but as a Diasporan Armenian, who, just like you, have been donating to Armenia Fund for many years.

Like many of you, I had nothing when I immigrated to the United States in 1990 from the civil war-stricken Lebanon. I lived in a tiny apartment and worked very hard for every dollar I brought home to support my three children. I know the value of money very well. As a businessman in a cut-throat California dairy industry, I don’t part with money easily and I pay attention to detail.

Before making a decision to join Armenia Fund as its President, I traveled to Armenia and Artsakh to study the organization, its projects and its operations. I had to be absolutely sure that the hundreds of thousands of dollars I donated to Armenia Fund went to the right place. I went unannounced. I dug deep into the financials, control mechanisms and procedures. I went to the remote villages, witnessed the ongoing construction and talked to real people on the ground. I had discussions with almost every one of 45 employees of Armenia Fund’s Yerevan office probing them on a wide variety of issues that all of us have on our minds as donors.

I was impressed with the magnitude of Armenia Fund’s work and the professionalism of its staff. The organization’s ability to minimize the risks of working in Armenia’s complicated environment and the unique institutional know-how acquired during its 21 years existence maximizes the impact of every dollar we donate every year.

Today I call on you to make a tax-deductible investment in Armenia’s future. Together we will build the second road linking Armenia to Artsakh, the Vardenis – Martakert Highway. This is a critical piece of strategic infrastructure to ensure long-term peace for our Homeland and create new economic opportunities for the people of Armenia and Artsakh.

Donate with confidence. Armenia Fund gets things done in Armenia. It produces real, tangible results impacting the lives of hundreds of thousands in Armenia and Artsakh every day. It does so by bringing together Armenians from all walks of life all over the world. Governments will come and go, political issues will change over the years, but the roads, schools, hospitals and waterways that we build together will remain for decades to come.

Our mission is clear. We invest in Armenia – the home of every Armenian, without which, we, in the Diaspora, will lose our meaning.

I thank you in advance for your generosity.

Respectfully,

Antranik Baghdassarian
