Los Angeles, November 14, 2021 – Armenia Fund Telethon Raises Vital Support for Homeland Recovery, Reports on the Implementation of Recent Projects

Armenia Fund’s 24th annual International Thanksgiving Day Telethon mobilized the worldwide Armenian community, calling for the continued support of the ongoing recovery of the homeland while reporting on projects and programs that were implemented in the course of the past 12 months.

Carrying the theme “Empowering the Homeland’s Remote Communities,” the Telethon raised support for providing assistance to dozens of communities in Armenia and Artsakh impacted by the 44-day War, including close to 100,000 displaced persons. The four-hour Telethon was held on November 25 in Los Angeles, featuring appearances by community leaders and representatives of schools and organizations, as well as short documentaries on completed projects, the ongoing humanitarian needs of the homeland, and initiatives designed to address them.

By the conclusion of the Telethon, $12,351,000 was raised in support of the homeland. This sum represents the total amount that was raised internationally during 2021, in the US, France, Canada, and other Armenian communities around the world.

The Impact

We help the people of Armenia and Karabakh through humanitarian and infrastructure development.

Housing & Urban Development

Aiming to improve housing and quality of life for families and communities alike, we’re implementing an array of projects that encompass the provision of apartments to homeless families, construction of residences for multi-child households and war veterans, and revitalization of diverse urban environments.

Roads & Highways

In addition to being the backbone of the homeland’s economy, roads and highways are of paramount strategic importance. Today, following our work on the North-South and Goris-Stepanakert highways, among others, we continue to build and renovate roads and highways, helping boost the economies of countless communities and stimulate tourism.

Rural Development & Support

As part of our ongoing rural-development efforts, we create community hubs that improve the lives of residents and further connect them to their land. Our multifunctional community centers, built in villages across Armenia and Artsakh, typically comprise a mayor’s office, a library, a health clinic, a multipurpose event hall, and a computer room.

Water Infrastructure

Water is life. And it’s still in dangerously short supply in rural communities across Armenia and Artsakh, particularly in border regions. Today we continue to build state-of-the-art water networks and pipelines, not only to bring life-giving water to rural households, but boost agricultural output by helping irrigate swaths of arable land.

Culture & Heritage

Armenia Fund has constructed and renovated some of Armenia’s and Artsakh’s most important cultural institutions, from the National Motion Picture Archive to the historic libraries and educational institutions. As we remain committed to helping foster cultural excellence, we continue to support establishments that build on a rich and diverse artistic heritage.

Education has been a key priority ever since the inception of Armenia Fund, illustrated by our support of various schools including the Vanadzor Music School and Togh Art School. Today, with an abiding vision of promoting educational advancement, we build, renovate, and modernize schools and colleges throughout the homeland.

As we’re committed to helping transform the Armenian homeland into an agricultural powerhouse, we provide wide-ranging support to farmers, particularly in rural areas. The assistance we provide includes greenhouses, agricultural machinery, dairy equipment, seeds, and livestock, as well as training and technical support.

With projects including the reconstruction of Stepanakert Hospital and our landmark partnership with Glendale Adventist Medical Center for providing medical assistance to Noyemberyan, we’re dedicated to helping thoroughly modernize Armenian healthcare, through hospital construction, provision of medical equipment, and telemedicine.

In recognition of our war veterans’ invaluable sacrifices, we’re committed to honoring their service and helping ease the daily burdens which they and their families face. Our support encompasses mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, vehicles modified for disabled drivers, and financial assistance, including to families of fallen soldiers.

I want to support Armenia Fund.
