On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2005, Armenia Fund, Inc. along with its global affiliates reached out to millions of viewers in the United States and around the world during the 8th Annual Armenia Fund Telethon. The live 12 hour program originated from Los Angeles, California and was delivered to nearly all Armenian communities across the globe via satellite and high power stations. Viewers were able to watch the live telecast via the Internet at www.armeniafund.org, further expanding the Telethon’s outreach.

During the 2005 Telethon, Armenia Fund and its worldwide affiliates were able to raise more than $7.77 million. This registered an unprecedented growth in terms of public participation. Compared to previous years, the Fund registered an impressive 40% growth in total pledges received from the general public. This growth is certainly attributable to the Fund’s firm track record of various infrastructure development projects in Armenia and most importantly its powerful, solid public outreach program.

Proceeds from the Telethon will benefit the Redevelopment of Martakert, a multi-level, large scale reconstruction program designed to revitalize the war torn region. The plan encompasses the renovation of a regional hospital, construction of a water pipeline network, agricultural development, and the construction of new local school. The redevelopment plan is geared towards the socio-economic enhancement of the remote region.
