Message from the Chairperson
Maria Mehranian

Dear Friends and Supporters:

We did it! Thanks to your efforts and contributions, Armenia Fund, with its affiliates from around the world, raised the 11.5 million dollars necessary to complete the vital North-South “Backbone” Highway in Karabakh.

There is still much more work to be completed in developing Armenia and Karabakh into a secure, stable, and economically viable nation.

Armenia Fund’s mission is to assume responsibility for the complex projects crucial to the development of both Armenia and Karabakh. With the North-South Highway on the verge of successful completion, Armenia Fund is proud to announce its upcoming project, the Regional Development of Karabakh – Revival of Karabakh.

Revival of Karabakh is a three-year, multifaceted project focusing on the developing the critical infrastructure of the region.

  • Build a new health care infrastructure
  • Enhance agricultural development and provide clean water by upgrading local irrigation systems
  • Improve educational institutions
  • Provide secure housing for residents
  • Reconstruct local roads

Martakert, situated on the border to Azerbaijan, is the largest and the most war-torn region of Karabakh. The region is in desperate need of major infrastructure development to ensure security and economic growth for its residents. Armenia Fund’s 2005 focus will be on improving Martakert’s health care facilities.

To accomplish this vital project, Armenia Fund must build upon the unprecedented success of 2004. Our goal is to further engage the Diaspora – helping in projects that empower the people of Armenia and Karabakh.

The success of “Revival of Karabakh” is in our collective hands! I ask you to respond today with a contribution and request that you encourage a family member, a friend, or colleague to do the same.

Working together we can build a new Armenia and Karabakh for future generations.

Maria Mehranian
