Project Started ~ July 1, 2005
Project Completed ~ September 30, 2008
Project location: Yerevan, Armenia
Project Category: Municipal Development
Donor: Boghossian Foundation, Switzerland
Project Description:
One of Yerevan's most beloved leisure destinations and tourist landmarks, the Pushkin Park, now better known as Lovers' Park, had been in a state of disrepair since the 1990s.
In 2005, the Armenia Fund, with the financial support of the Boghossian Foundation, launched a major, multi-year renovation project, not only to construct new facilities across the 1.6-hectare park and upgrade its landscaping, but ensure its long-term, sustainable, and environmentally-sound maintenance.
By the project's completion date of September 2008, 1.05 hectares of the park will be covered in lawns, with 300 meters of benching. The site will have two waterfalls, a lake, an amphitheater with over 200 seats, a small open-air café, sand paths for physical exercise, and shaded pavilions for table games.
The revitalized park will have 300 trees. The entire area of the park, including the public restrooms, will be handicap-accessible.
The park's renovation design was created by Pierre Rambach, a renowned landscape architect based in Switzerland.
