Glendale, CA — The Armenia Fund announced today that it has received a donation in the amount of $50,000 from internationally celebrated painter, Martiros Manoukian. The donation is the single largest contribution so far this year that Armenia Fund has received in support of the Thanksgiving Day Telethon on November 27, 2003.
Martiros Manoukian, now living in the United States, is one of the elite few artists whose thousands of originals have sold worldwide. He is one of the most successful and saleable artists in Japan, United States and Europe. He has participated in numerous international exhibits and received many honors and awards.
“Martiros’ generous donation is in recognition of the importance of the work that Armenia Fund does in Armenia and Artsakh” stated the chairman, Tom Alexanian. “This donation will help us get closer to one of our major goals which is the completion of the North-South Highway in Artsakh, currently underway”.
One of the key projects implemented by Armenia Fund is the construction of the North-South highway in Artsakh (Karabagh). The highway, stretching 170 km from Martakert to Hadrout, will provide a much needed communication link, connecting more than one hundred towns and villages with the capital-Stepanakert, as well as the outside world.
