Armenia Fund Mourns PM Markarian's Death

Los Angeles, CA- Armenia Fund U.S. Western Region and its 20 international affiliates mourn the untimely death of Prime Minister Andranik Markarian that occurred on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Prime Minister Markarian died of a heart attack in his residence in Yerevan, Armenia.

Prime Minister Andranik Markarian

Prime Minister Markarian was appointed to his position since late 1999. An active supporter of Armenia's independence movement, he was imprisoned for two years by the Soviet government as an attempt to hamper his patriotic activities.

Prime Minister Markarian honorably served as a member of Armenia Fund's International Board of Trustees. Armenia Fund's Corporate Board and Management express their deepest sympathies to Mrs. Margaryan and the Prime Minister's family.
